Milan Jovanovic

Liverpool snatched Milan Jovanovic on a Bosman free in the summer of 2010.

The left-sided forward was sniffed out by Rafael Benitez but arrived at Melwood with Roy Hodgson at the helm.

The Serbian already had a decade of senior football under his belt having broken through at FK Vojvodina during the 1999-2000 campaign.

Spells at Shakhtar Donetsk and Lokomotiv Moscow followed before Belgian giants Standard Liege came calling in 2006.

During the next four years he would scored 69 goals in 146 appearances - enough to earn him a first international cap against Finland in 2007, Belgian Footballer of the Year in 2008 and the Golden Shoe in 2009.

Jovanovic's time on the continent also gave him a chance to sample the famous Anfield roar as an 87th minute substitute when Liege lost 1-0 to Liverpool in a 2008-09 Champions League qualifier.

With his four-year contract up, the versatile playmaker agreed a deal with Liverpool - but first there was the small matter of a World Cup in South Africa.

It was the Merseyside-bound star who scored the only goal as Serbia completed a shock victory over Germany before falling out of the tournament at the group stage.

Having won league titles in Russia and Belgian, Jovanovic is now looking to complete a hat-trick in England.
